At Divine Feminine Publishing, we believe that representation in fiction matters deeply.
The concept of the Divine Feminine transcends boundaries, embodying compassion, deep empathy, intersectional wisdom, and the power to heal through storytelling.
As an independent, women-owned small press, our mission is to provide a safe, inclusive sanctuary for marginalized voices.
We specialize in feminist science fiction, inclusive fantasy, and queer-friendly speculative fiction.
To ensure our worlds reflect the beautiful diversity of our actual world, every book we publish commits to a vital standard: at least 50% of the characters are female, gender-diverse, or non-binary.
Growing up, most of the characters I read about were men. At nine years old, when asked what I wanted to be when I grow up, I proudly announced that I will either be a detective like Sherlock Holmes, or I will become a Musketeer.
"That's ridiculous. Girls don't fight," smirked my elderly neighbor.
I was furious and embarrassed all the same time, not understanding why I couldn't emulate my favorite characters, simply because I was a girl.
This was when my grandfather stepped in. He was a Holocaust survivor and a WWII hero.
He pulled me aside and said, "I have a book I think you'll enjoy."
And when I followed him to the living room, he added, "This book is magical. It's written in invisible ink, and you're not old enough to read it just yet. So, I'll read it to you. And when you grow up, you can read it to other people."
And then, my grandfather pulled out a blank piece of paper. He moved his finger left to right, as if reading invisible ink that only he could see.
He read me stories about a little girl (me), who had to fight monsters in order to save her older brother and male cousins from certain death.
Today, Divine Feminine Publishing is the realization of that magical, blank page. We exist to help marginalized authors, LGBTQIA+ writers, progressive thinkers, and empaths bring their untold narratives to life.
I can proudly say that I can read the invisible ink now, Grandpa. Thank you for showing me the way.
