The Divine Feminine is a concept that transcends religious, cultural, and spiritual boundaries, embodying the feminine aspect of the divine and the sacred. The Divine Feminine emphasizes qualities such as compassion, empathy, wisdom, and the ability to nurture and heal. In various traditions, she is depicted as the goddess, the earth, the moon, and the source of creation, symbolizing the fertile and generative power inherent in all life.
From the Founding Director:
Growing up, most of the characters I read about were men. At nine years old, when asked what I wanted to be when I grow up, I proudly announced that I will either be a detective like Sherlock Holmes, or I will become a Musketeer.
"That's ridiculous. Girls don't fight," smirked my elderly neighbor.
I was furious and embarrassed all the same time, not understanding why I couldn't emulate my favorite characters, simply because I was a girl.
I didn't realize it at the time, but my grandfather essentially became my first feminist role model, teaching me that girls can be heroes too.
And so now, my purpose is to write, publish, and help others publish stories featuring female protagonists with at least 50% of female characters in each book.
I can proudly say that I can read the invisible ink now, Grandpa.
